The Halloween Party from the Black Lagoon

This week I read Black Lagoon Adventures The Halloween Party from the Black Lagoon

Mrs. Green tells her students they will be having a Halloween party next Fright-day, and for everyone to come in costumes and they will have a prize for the best costume.

The bus ride home all the kids were discussing what they wanted go be for the Halloween party. Everyone had their own ideas and some of their reasoning was a bit silly. Hubie on the other hand had no idea what he wanted to be, he just told them his costume was a work  in progress.

When he arrives home he empties his piggy bank and counts all the money. All he has is $2.37. He then went to the Halloween store to find a costume. Everything was very cool looking but the problem was everything was too expensive for her. He only had $2.37, which is no where near the amount some of the costumes cost.

After help from his mom he comes up with ideas on what he wants to be and how he is going to make his costume. He comes up with the idea of being an angel. He struggles to figure out what he wants his wings to look like. They brainstorm where they could go get feathers. They decide on the feathers from a down pillow that they had back at the house. They open the pillow and place feathers on the cardboard to look like wings.

At school all the kids looked their best. A few bought props from the local costume store, but most were hand made.

Mrs. Green decorated the room and it looked fantastic. The students had a great time and they all voted for their favorite costume. Everyone voted for themselves, but somehow Hubie had 2 votes. He won a $35 gift card go the local costume shop. They had a great party and made many memories.

*The only thing I had trouble with in this book, it is never says if the character is a boy or a girl. Only by the picture in the middle of the book, was I able to guess a boy. Frustrating as a reader!
